For a few years, I air-fried food for a living. Well, at least as part of my job.

I wrote and hosted a video series for Mashable called AirFryDay, which involved filming a new recipe at least once per week. This was during peak air fryer mania, right after the COVID pandemic hit. I used a number of different air fryers in the series and, during that process, learned what really makes a good air fryer, well, good.

And right now, my favorite air fryer, the Instant Pot Vortex Plus, is 50% off for Amazon's 2025 Prime Day. The four-quart version of the air fryer is priced at just $64.99. This is the model I still use at home, and I really like it for a few reasons. First, it has an open basket, rather than a tray, which I find more convenient. Second, it cooks food quickly and evenly. Third, it's tremendously easy to clean.

And at just $64.99, it's priced close to its lowest figure ever.

In addition to being my personal air fryer of choice, the Vortex Plus is also a best-seller on Amazon, where it's been named an "Amazon's Choice" product.
